Mounou Desire Koffi is a young Ivorian artist born in 1994 in Buyo (Ivory Coast). He was early on very much attracted to the world of art. Passionate about drawing since his childhood: he won an art contest at the age of seven and from then on his calling was clear. After graduating from Art School (LEA) in Abidjan, he joined les Beaux-Arts in the same city to obtain a bachelor’s degree.

Barely out of the Beaux-Arts, the international art scene started with exhibitions in Ivory Coast (his country), Morocco and most recently in Belgium and France.

At the age of 24, the artist is in the process of becoming an important figure of the new contemporary Art scene.

Mounou draws inspiration from recycling and the informal sector to create his works of art.

He gives a second life to discarded objects, using high tech material to create art technology. Keyboards and screens are used to draw human silhouettes which are inserted into realistic and colorful urban decors.

If his approach is resolutely ecological, the result is none the less a very aesthetic portrait of the streets of Abidjan.

The artist uses a creative concept and a singular approach and technique that has already distinguished him as a rising artist.

The location of his urban studio where he practices his art resembles those in his paintings evocative of urban slums where discarded objects are often seen on the pavements.

He works in a cramped, warm and comforting studio in a highly populated Urban neighborhood of Abidjan where he manages to focus in an intimate atmosphere which he needs to create his paintings.
